Fungus Remedy Uses Vinegar We've all heard that vinegar can improve the appearance of thick fungal toenails, but who among our clients has the time to sit and soak every day to find out if it's true. "In my practice, scores of patients would complain of ugly toenails resulting from fungal infections that just wouldn't clear up on their own," says Paul Kinsinger, M.D., an Illinois family physician. "A common home remedy requires soaking feet in a mixture of vinegar and water for 20 minutes a day for several months, but my patients balked at the amount of time involved." So Kinsinger went to the lab and eventually uncovered a way to deliver the natural healing power of vinegar in an easy-to-use form. The result is Dr. Paul's Piggy Paste, which combines vinegar and thymol, a natural substance with antiseptic properties, in a penetrating gel. Three out of four patients who tried the product reported notable improvement, according to Kinsinger. "My patients were very receptive to trying it because it offered a safe alternative to prescription anti-fungal medications that pose the risk of potentially serious side effects," he says. Dr. Paul's Piggy Paste is available at most drugstores. For more information, go to www.piggypaste.com. IS THE ONLY MAGAZINE FOR NAIL ARTISTS! Mounted and soldered into a circuit board, an SMD LED is quite small since it has no leads or surrounding packaging that you would see with standard LEDs. Because SMD LEDs do not have the standard LED epoxy enclosure, the lights emit a much wider viewing angle than the focused narrow angle of standard LED, says the company. SMD LEDs emit a higher level of brightness while consuming less power than standard LED lights. The SMD LED has lower voltage and current requirements, which means it gives of very little heat. With standard LED lights, the ultraviolet light breaks down the epoxy surrounding the standard LED over time, causing the epoxy to crack. Once cracked, the standard LED light no longer flows evenly, disrupting the flow of light resulting in an uneven cure. Because SMD LED lights have no epoxy surrounding them, they will not crack and the flow of light will continue to be even throughout the life of the light.
