72 | NAILS MAGAZINE | APRIL 2014 TECHNIQUE } This design was created by AnGel educator Albee Chen using AnGel Artist Gel from Ikonna. Created specifi cally for nail art, AnGel Artist Gel has a thicker consistency that's easier to control. As well, colors don't dry until they're cured, allowing nail technicians to edit their artwork without a race against the clock. Chen used colors Only Onyx, The Dark Ages, Blank Pages, Tan My Hide, Feel the Heat, and Warmest Wishes to create this look. 1. Prep the nail, and then coat it in a layer of Only Onyx. 2. Collect a small portion of AnGel Artist Gel from each color pot and mix them to get the proper brown. As shown, Chen mixed brown with a black and a bit of both red and yellow to create a richer shade of tan. 3. Using the AnGel Marbleize brush, slowly dot out the face and ears of the teddy bear in your tan color. The brush will create the fuzzy texture as you dot out the shape. Cure the nail in the AnGel LED lamp for 10 seconds, and then repeat this step again to create a fuller look. Cure again for 10 seconds. 4. Use a lighter shade of brown or white to dot out the mouth. Cure for 10 seconds. 5. Use AnGel Artist Brush No. 3 and the darkest brown/black color to add in the shadow around the mouth and ears for more detail. When fi nished, cure the nail for 10 seconds. 6. Now use AnGel Brush No. 7 to draw out the bear's eyes, nose, and mouth. If you make a mistake, simply wipe it of . When fi nished, cure for 10 seconds. 7. Use AnGel Artist Brush No. 7 and draw out the ribbon in yellow. Cure for 10 seconds, and then fi ll in the ribbon with red. Cure for another 10 seconds. When fi nished, cover the artwork with the top coat of your choice and do a full cure for the manufacturer's recommended time. >>> 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Teddy Bear Nail Art n a 0 4 1 4 t e c h N F . i n d d 7 2 na0414techNF.indd 72 2 / 2 1 / 1 4 2 : 4 3 P M 2/21/14 2:43 PM
