90 | NAILS MAGAZINE | JANUARY 2018 THE Over the span of eight days in September, executive editor Beth Livesay visited 18 salons across the country and received 12 nail services. The miles traveled totaled 2,730 and reached across six states. My first visit was to the small town of Cotati, located about an hour outside of Napa, Calif. I visited Nailz & Co. co-owners Diane Peters Von Royen and Chantel Estrada. Von Royen removed my gel-polish and cleaned up my naked nails. On the second floor of a sunny yellow house near the former Mare Island Naval Shipyard is Teena Olsen's nail studio. The salon is right next to the filming location of two major blockbusters: 13 Reasons Why and Transformers. Olsen's sunny space is so tranquil and full of eye candy that the surrounding area almost doesn't matter. She gave me a gel-polish manicure with freehand nail art based on a vintage fabric print.
