74 manicure/pedicure services You don't have to spend thousands of dollars on a salon makeover in order to provide a spa experience for your clients. Here are some simple things you can do right now. Create Your "Brand." A brand isn't just the logo on your Instagram feed or business cards — the deeper meaning of a brand is all about how you want clients to perceive you and your salon: What strikes a chord? What do they remember when they walk out the door? How do they feel when they are receiving treatments that nourish and soothe them? Feng Shui Principles. It may seem "out there" but feng shui is actually a very practical philosophy. Use it to create an environment that supports the well-being of those who are in it. If it's in your budget, employ the talents of a feng shui expert; otherwise consult one of the many books and websites offering tips for creating a warm, calm, and inviting spa. Music Matters. Nothing evokes a more emotional response in humans than music. Your background music should create a mantle of repose within your spa area; consider acoustic guitar, chamber music (classical music, often string, performed by a small group), or a balanced combination of genres that can include more modern sounds. Product-Driven Approach. Even if you have a tiny space within a shopping center salon, the spa experience can emerge from the effective product line you use. Take time before the service to provide a bit of orientation to the client. To create an experiential environment and visual excitement, display product in small dishes or ritual trays and line up the product for smart merchandising. Allow the client to experience the fragrance and the texture of one or two of them while highlighting their benefits. This is a good time to point out a retail area where the client can go to bring some of these benefits home with her. Get the Look. Sometimes in making a salon look beautiful you forget about yourself. Take a good, long look at yourself in the mirror and carefully evaluate the style you want to project. Many spa professionals dress in all black with hair pulled back sleekly in a ponytail or updo. Others adopt a more organic, mother-earth style with natural fabrics and a loose hairstyle. Whatever style you choose, maintain your own meticulous hands and nails … and always be comfortable! 5 WAYS TO TURN YOUR NAIL SALON INTO A SPA
